We had another great conversation today. We covered Numbers and Acts. Once again, we noticed the theme of Gratitude in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. In living our lives in gratitude, we must acknowledge that all that we are, and all that we have is a gift from God. This gratitude is not just for the things we possess, but also for the gift of community to which we are called.
We did not let our conversation get bogged down by the shear number of people in Numbers, but remembered that it tells the larger story of God and God's people. We discussed how we can get lost when we take Scripture literally, and instead we can hear the same meaning in the story when we take it "literately...according to the kind of literature that it is" (Rob Bell, What is the Bible?).
Here is the video from today. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Rev. Michael York (michaelyork@firspresvero.org) or any one of our pastors. Enjoy your reading this week and we will seek you next Thursday at 10:00 AM.
